Title: Are waypoints on unit or lake master chip
Post by: Tamnud on March 22, 2016, 10:31:06 AM
The waypoints I have saved are they saved to my unit or on the last master chips I have in the units? I want to export all on a clean chip to upload to HB PC.
THANKS IN ADVANCE

They are saved to your unit, and it's not a good idea to try to save them to a mapping card.  I always keep my mapping card write protection tab so I don't accidentally write anything to the card.

I'm sure if you do a search on here for export humminbird nav data, or a google search, you will get a lot of information and probably even some youtube videos of how to do it.
Humminbird PC also has help files built into the program.

*Press Menu twice to get into the Main Menu System ...
*Cursor over to the Nav tab ...
*Cursor down to Waypoints Routes Tracks ...
*Cursor right to open Waypoint Management ...
*Cursor to highlight Options ...
*Cursor right to open options menu ...
*Cursor to "Select All and ..."
*Cursor to Export ...
*Confirm the green popup ...
*Wait for the white Successful popup ...

Like Bob mentions ... lock your map card or remove it from the unit so you don't accidentally write Nav data to the map card ...

Exporting Nav data to a SD Card simply copies the Nav library to the card ... The Nav data will still be in the library after the export ...

Thanks guys I thought that was the case but wanted to make sure. Should I delete the waypoints from my unit after I save to an empty SD card? Also how much storage capacity do the units have?
THANK AGAIN

The internal waypoint library is 2500 ...

It's always a good idea to run your Waypoints thru Humminbird PC to verify they are safely backed up before deleting the waypoint library in the unit ...

When the Waypoints are in HBPC ... It's also a good idea to check for corrupt Waypoints as these can cause weird issues in the HB units ... Look for unreasonable dates and coordinates that seem out of place ...

Corrupt Waypoints happen ... We don't know why ...
