Title: 698ci with external GPS?
Post by: subysti on June 21, 2015, 06:54:58 PM
was wondering if anyone has tried the 698CI with an external GPS antenna?    Want to know because the internal antenna can take 15-20 minutes to get a fix and then it loses it sometimes.  Brand new unit and it has a clear view of the sky.  If you look up the accessories for the model it has and antenna listed, The specs for the model say its not compatible but they've been wrong before.  So what's the truth?

The specs say "External antenna" not supported ...

You could call HB to verify ... 1-800-633-1468

You should discuss your internal antenna issue with them anyway ... 15-20 minutes is way too long ...

I was hoping someone here would have an answer, their phone support is iffy.  I called 3 times to find out if I could use 2 SI transducers because I don't have a clear shot to both sides, got 2 yes answers and 1 no then 2 different cables were offered with one being completely wrong.  Like I said the specs say no but an antenna is listed as an accessory and the antenna says it will work with the 698.  No straight answers it seems.

I have had good results getting answers to some pretty technical questions via email in the contact us tab..... It takes longer, but I have always got good answers .... Maybe it is because they have more time to research the answer.

Make sure you let them know about the discrepancy in the documentation.
