Title: 798ci software update (again)

Hello,

I have a 798ci for coastal studies mainly. It hasn't been used for a while (a couple of years). Now I was surprised that it is not recording. I check some posts, and already formated the SD cards (the right way) and tried to update the software. When I checked the software version, it is '7.680' in the 'system status', and it should be 6.3...!?

A student mine likely achieved this... don't know how...

I downloaded the 6.3 version to a formatted SD card and put it in the unity. However, nothing the software didn't change.

Is there a way to reset the unity? Or how to force it read the right software?

I appreciate very much your help!

Try inserting the SD card before powering on the unit  ...

I did it. Before turn on, after turn on, using one slot, then the other... nothing happens.

The software is right! After I realize the model is the 'HD'.

I opened the unity to check inside! I found some small spots of light rust on the steel of the SD slots (see picture). I think the slots are corrupted! I'll try to make some cleaning following some 'youtube' ideas about how to clean SD slots! Let's see.
