updates indoors with no ducer or gps module hooked up
« on: January 22, 2015, 01:26:49 PM »
Do I need to put my units 998 and 788 into forced simulator to update software?

I do, but I don't know if it is necessary.........I also have a fully charged battery connected to the unit when doing the update.

The odds are slim, but I don't want any chance of a power problem while doing the update.....The unit would be bricked.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and put it into forced simulator and it attached to the Schumacher power source and everything downloaded in both units.

Software updates can be done in Normal or Forced Simulator ... With or without xducer and GPS antenna attached ...

It's an undocumented recommendation to disconnect Ethernet accessories and remove mapping cards ...just so the unit doesn't have to think about them ...
