Title: Does HumViewer really work?
Post by: Kkcollins on March 21, 2020, 08:02:58 PM
Hey group I'm Kevin. New to the forum.

I downloaded HumViewer to view my Humminbird Helix 10 SI Gen2 videos.  But I copied them to my desktop from my SD card and tried to open the .DAT files from the folder and I keep receiving this Error message.

Yes all of them do.  Very well I might add.

When you click on File/Open and point Humviewer to the folder with your recording data and then select a DAT file and select open  ... does Humviewer look like it’s loading the B001, B002, B003 files?

(from your ScreenShot it looks it loaded all the way to the B004 file)

Exactly correct. Chugs along like it's working and then it hangs on #4. Then nothing.

Rename the B004 folder to X004.  Then reload Humviewer. Your file will open.

I don't have a B004 folder.  Could that be the problem? My FF doesn't have a B004 folder either. I've attached my file structure of what I DO have.

I haven't done this in a while.  The problem is caused by the B004.IDX and B004.SON files used for Mega down imaging.   If you create a folder and move these two files to it, Humviewer will then open the recording successfully.

Here's a video on the topic:  https://youtu.be/qvelxOOcY54?t=19 (https://youtu.be/qvelxOOcY54?t=19)

Is there a way to change the color from green to the color the Humminbird has?

Yes, there is a topic on this subject in the forum and it works great.
Search on this forum for True 'Brown'  and you will find it.

Cheers,

Reso

Thanks for the tip Reso but I downloaded it and copied where I was told and now when I open HumViewer it will not open the color model editor to change the color over to the brown color.

I just followed fishshtick 's instructions and have it both working on my pc and laptop, looks almost as the original color on my HB when playing back.
Make sure you rename the .txt file correctly and place it in the right location, it should work.

if you added it permanently, like i did, you open the recording, right mouse click on the recording view when you play it and select Color Schemes and click on HB Brown
Dont use color editor

My only option is grey scale.  Does that mean I haven't renamed the file correctly?
