788 CI DI HD software update issue need help

Hi to all,
First time on site
I have purchased a 788 CI DI HD in December of last year.
I only used it for the first time this spring
When i hit the mark button the system reboots and clears some not all of my settings
I called HB and they said clear all way points
So next time at my boat i look and have no waypoints
I do a clear anyways
Then when i try and start the system goes into a boot up loop and wont load
It finally stops and starts to works again but still cannot hit the mark button
Call HB back again and i get told to update the software
So i follow the instructions to a tee and when the system restarts it now hangs at the loading screen and will not get past this.
I can tell you at this moment i am not impressed with HB and feel i should have stayed with Lowrance
And buddy have any ideas on how to fix this so i dont have to call HB again and waist my time?

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums Bobbylove.

About the only thing that you can do is check to see that you have a good electrical connection to the battery.  Even though you may be getting 12+ volts to the unit, it may not be getting the amperage it needs to work correctly.  Check all electrical connections for any that are loose or corroded.  Be sure to check the fuse, fuse holder and battery connections too.  Getting the battery load tested is always a good idea as well.  If the power cable has been lengthened be sure that the wire size is at least 18 gauge if not larger.  Better yet would be to try connecting your unit to someone else’s boat that has a Humminbird Down Imaging model unit and see if it does the same thing on their boat or not.

Otherwise you will need to contact the Humminbird Customer Resource folks again and set it all up to get the unit in to be fixed.

Thanks for the reply
I am 100% positive it is not the battery
I have used this battery for my portable fish finder and for this one
I was able to start and restore the system and run the install
But on first reboot it hangs at loading
I think i will have to call Tech support
