Title: What Manuals Comes With New 1198 Units ?

I know when I purchased my 898 last year, a dvd product manual came with the product and I had to call Humminbird to get a paper manual.

My question is, does a paper manual come with the 1198 units or do I need to contact Humminbird to have one sent to me.

Thanks everyone.  I have a new 1198 on the way soon.

I have been told that due to cost reductions HB nwill not be shipping hard copy any more.  You will have to print yours from the CD.

You can print them from the HB website.
Click on the link then look on the left side of the screen for manuals.

I don't see an 1198c si manual, but they do have the 1197c si.
Should be basically the same machine.

I personally called and expressed my concern that we could spend so much for a unit and not get a manual with it. I did receive one in the mail.When you spend so much on a item you should get all the bells and whistles with it. I did not want to copy the manual. have a nice day and go fishing or searching.

I just purchased the 1198 and 788 and I called and they sent me a paper manual for both. But they both come with a DVD. What good is that on the water?

Nothing new about this and it's not exclusive to HB. Most electronic products nowadays come with the manual on CD. It costs too much to supply paper manuals, and most people don't even read them. (Witness the plethora of questions on any forum that could easily be answered via the manual). If you need a paper copy you print it off the CD or the manufacturer's website.  I printed mine two-sided and put it in a 3-ring binder which I keep in a big ziploc bag in the boat.

You dont have to print the whole manual.  Go thru it on the cd and then print only the pages you think are interesting or what you might want to reference. there is a  lot of "stuff" in the manual that does not need to be printed.
