Humminbird factory tour
« on: March 06, 2010, 01:28:23 PM »
guys (and girls)  I had a chance to fly down to the HB plant in Alabama yesterday.  Picked Robert up in south carolina and then continued on to alabama. Greg Walters from HB met us at the airport and carried us back to the plant where he gave us a tour of the facility.  If you ever get a chance to visit HB do so.  After the tour in the manufacturing building I am completely convinced that HB products go out the door with almost no defects. The standard HB has set for quality is well above most manufcturing done in the USA today. Every detail has is examined, tested, viewed, checked, right down to the packing for shipment.  OK I know some of us have had glitches but believe me, HB products are well on their way to being a leader in sonar and charting.  It is helpful to see the inside of the products. Sometimes the "black box" can be a bit intimidating because we cant see the "magic" inside. Just seeing the assembly process and what the pieces are was facinating.
this forum will serve as a conduit from the field to the plant for issues in operation and integrity, so keep the questions/comments.answers going.  Again if you get the chance,  take a tour if you are near the plant.  chuck

If it helps soretoe....neither did we.  the folks were great... but security was tight ....so no gifts.  It is a bit of a sad feeling to see so many units ready for shipment and not be able to have one.   ;D :P :'(
but I do understand the profit/loss margin.  Chuck
