So I did some experimenting ...
I powered on my unit in Normal ..and then shut off the sonar by pressing the Power button after full startup ... (This makes the unit a GPS chart plotter only)...
Then I formatted the Nav directories to clear out all waypoints ...
Then (after confirming my GPS antenna had found me) ...I opened a chart view and created 3 new waypoints north of my GPS position ...
Then I went into waypoint management under "Waypoints, Routes, Tracks" (under the Nav tab in the main menu system) .. And then made each of the 3 new waypoints "Hidden" ...(be sure to select "Save" before exiting)...
Then I exited out of waypoint management and opened a normal chart view... and then started a GOTO function toward "WP001"....
We can see that the GOTO function did, indeed start ... Indicated by the "Off Track" border and the "Target circle" around the "now Invisable WP001" ...(pay no attention to the course projection line because I was sitting still in my garage and the GPS doesn't know correct direction when not moving)...
So GOTO works with "Hidden" waypoints on the normal chart view ... But it doesn't make the chosen waypoint "visable"....
-----------
-----------
Now...interestingly ... (With the GOTO function still active on the normal chart view) ... I can go back into waypoint management, select the same waypoint (or any chosen waypoint from the list in the left pane)...and that single chosen waypoint (blue dot) will show in the upper right preview pane chart...
Furthermore ... I can zoom the preview pane chart with the (+,-) buttons on the unit face ...
This tells me that your desired option can be accomplished ... Sort of ...
*Make all waypoints "Hidden" in waypoint management ...
*Start a GOTO function in waypoint management or on the normal chart view ...
*Navigate the GOTO function toward the now "Invisable waypoint" on the normal chart view ...
*When you get close to the "Target circle" of the GOTO function on the normal chart view... Go into waypoint management, select the same waypoint from the list on the left ...and start zooming in on the preview pane chart as you get closer and closer to the waypoint (blue dot) ...
