Title: Where can I go and buy the "arm" bracket for my transducer?
Post by: Time Out on August 16, 2014, 07:37:59 PM
In state of NJ or even Philly area?  Is there anywhere that sells Hummingbird accessories.  I don't have time to wait.   I need a mounting arm/bracket, but fast for my 899.

Does Hummingbird store do overnight shipping?

Where else online might send this overnight shipping?

The transducer flipped up a bunch of times (too loose?) and the arm on the bracket broke.  Stinks.

Thanks

Time Out,
I’m guessing that it too late to get one overnighted to you since you posted on Saturday and its Monday now…
However, your best option would be to contact the Humminbird Customer Resource Center folks directly.
Are you using the standard transducer (XNT-9-Si-180-T Compact Side Imaging CSi) or the larger XHS-9-HDSi-180-T Hi-Def Side imaging HDSi) transducer?  They will need to know which before you can get a replacement.
Are you sure that the transducer still works fine?

Hi Greg,

Did drive 2 hours and bought 2 brackets/arms so I'm prepared.  Hey 20 bucks in fishing is nothing I guess for each one....this sport sucks the wallet dry.

I have two different kinds of transducers (so the si works on both sides of the deep v).  The one is sturdy and has a metal bracket.  The other one says HB and is cheap plastic and fragile to fatigue.  In any case, they are both extend below the boat pretty much entirely.  The strong one holds up, but the cheap one can't handle the water rushing into it or perhaps the occasional pounding.

Does it need to be moved up and relocated so that it has the boat blocking some of the water rushing by.  Remember it is completely below the boat pretty much.  Will that affect performance?  Would a pic when I get a chance help?   Should I just a get the other kind of ducer that is tougher and eat the extra money.  ouch...

Also, both throw a nice spray up on the cowling sides. Normal?   Thanks again

Time Out,
It sounds like both transducers are mounted too deep/low on your hull – the water spray and kicking up transducer are definite signs of this.  You pretty much stated your options: move the one that broke upwards or install another XHS-9-HDSi-180-T transducer and hope that the water pressure does get so bad that it starts kicking up as well.

Pictures are always welcomed.

Yes, moving the transducer higher up on the transom can affect its performance.
