Does the Humminbird fish finders come with the cable to connect to the minn kota ilink trolling motor so you can control the motor from the fish finder?

Do I have to order it from Humminbird or would Bass Pro have it in stock?

I would check with Bass Pro and see. You will have to ask them..If not the HB store can order it for you..Go to the HB web site..Or you can call, but may have to wait a bit for a rep to come on the phone...

This can be especially true if calling Humminbird on a Monday as this is their busiest day of the week.  I would wait and call Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM (Central time zone) as this is when they start in the morning.

This is what I got from Bass Pro.  Is this the correct cable?

The Minn Kota® Universal Sonar 2 Adapter Cables model MKR-US2-8 is
the one you need for the Humminbird 998, item 38-530-288-00 and it is in stock.

Yes, according to the Minn Kota web site the MKR-US2-8 is the correct adapter cable.

But I was told this cable is only like 12 inches long and I need to go back to my cockpit with the cable.  Do they make a longer one?

Wallin,  Do you have a Link Module yet?

From Doug V:

Doug Vahrenberg

The link has a long cable that comes out of the module. Could be 20 foot but not 100% sure but it's long

I went back and re-read is first post where he was asking about a cable to control the trolling motor…

What are you trying to do?  The only cable needed for the Ipilot Link is included with the module itself to connect via Ethernet from the trolling motor to a Link compatible unit. Or isn't that what you are looking for

That is what I am trying to do.  Connect the link trolling motor to my HB 998.  I was told I needed an adapter MKR-us2-8 and that it was only 12 inches long and that I could order an additional cable if I needed something longer.

I want to control my motor with the HB and use it to follow the contour.

You don't need anything for all of the associated GPS features between the two.  I don't know if the Ethernet cable transmits the sonar signal from the US 2 transducer but I'm sure Greg knows and will chime in.  I'm guessing that is what you are really asking? Yes,no

I think you were on the right track (or cable in this case) to begin with reddog.  He was given some bad information on the MKR-US2-8 cable.  The MKR-US2-8 cable would be the correct adapter cable if he were connecting his 998 unit to the universal sonar on his trolling motor but this is not what he stated he wanted to do.  Your earlier post quoting Doug V is correct and I believe is the answer he needs:
“The link has a long cable that comes out of the module. Could be 20 foot but not 100% sure but it's long”

Just bought the link for my 998 and it came with a cable about twenty feet long.  Connects from the Minn Kota to 998.  Cold in Iowa but we took her out and she ran like a champ.  Doug V has a video on how to change out the head on the trolling motor control head.  20 minute job at most.  Hope this help.
