598ci HD Si Install
« on: April 10, 2014, 09:39:58 PM »
First I would like to say this is a great site with lots of information!

I just bought a 598ci HD Si and will be installing it this weekend. I was wondering if the transducer would be fine where my old transducer is. I wanted to remove my Piranha 5 transducer and install the new transducer in its place. Also what is best to use to make the screw holes water tight (3M 5200)?

Thanks again, great site,
Robert

If your Piranha 5 worked fine with the transducer in that location than I would certainly try the CSi transducer from the 598ci HD Si there as well.  Do you know how much clearance there is in between the lower unit on the motor and the transom, when the motor is trimmed all the way down?  You may have to end up trimming the motor up a little to keep from blocking the right Si sonar when using it.

Thanks Greg for the help. With my motor trimmed all the way in I have 5" between lower unit and transom. I measured the transducer with the bracket and its 4 1/2". Would that be enough clearance? But then again I don't think I ever run with my motor all the way in.
