Hello Everyone,
I've got another Loaded question 4any1 that may have attempted this is the past:
IF I were 2 purchase an ASI-LR-Y-Splitter cable & then found a strange way to "cap/cover" 2 of the 5 pins of 1 Side in order 2make it "look like" an ASI-DB-Y-Splitter Cable - Would the ASI-LR-Y now Function the same as an ASI-DB-Y ?
Would it be possible 2make a Dual Purpose Y-Splitter Cable in this manner?
Thanks,
Sandro

Is the idea just to save the cost of another cable ??

More/Less - Yes.

If you cap, cover or remove any of the circuits it would make that circuit inoperable ...

The above is the same pinout for the AS SIDB Y Cable end - and the AS SILR Y Cable end that connects to the head unit ...

Thanks the sketch SIr,
I have them too and figureing the cable 2look moreso like "a circuit" than just a cable and No, I wouldnt be so foolish as 2remove pins #1 and #3 - just thinking 2 "block" the LR SI signals. Now I'm No Expert but I will be wondering "why" this wouldnt work.
Thanks, Sandro.

Making the R SI (pin1) and L SI (pin3) circuits inoperable would allow only the 2d and temp circuits to be operable ...
Basically turning the AS SILR Y cable into this ... :

With no R SI circuit (pin1) or L SI circuit (pin3) it would not be comparable to the AS SIDB Y Cable nor the AS SILR Y Cable ...

Maybe I’m still not fully understanding your idea ...
Is the idea to cap, cover, mask some pins in the AS SILR Y cable and it work as an AS SIDBY Cable ... ??

Yes Sir,
Cap or Cover or Mask Pin#1 + Pin#3 of one Side of the ASILR 2make it "look" just like an ASIDB... BUT U Know what, it just dawned on me... NO, It Will NOT Work b/c an ASILR is designed 2split the SI signal into 2separate Left/Right Readouts so Even "IF" my crazy idea did somehow work for the DB Side by way of masking Pin#1 and Pin#3 of either the Left or Right Connector End - One Would only achieve a Half Screen of Side Imageing with the other side being "Blank". Well, there goes that idea.
Just so U know, Shipping really sucks up here in The Great White North and many times, the cost of something as simple as an ASIDBY cable is doubled just b/c of Shipping... so when that cost for accessories keeps going up - one must find creative "work-arounds" w/o damaging the actual part itself. Just needed 2think out-loud I guess and was unable 2see the Forrest 4the Trees.
Thanks Again,
Sandro.
