997c transducer bracket/ Lakemaster maping software
« on: May 17, 2010, 01:27:21 PM »
Hey guys

we were out in our tournament boat this weekend after installing a 997c in my partners boat. He's got a 21ft tracker tundra with a 225 opti that does like 58mph. we keep having the transducer kick up out of the bracket even tensioning the thing as tight as we dare it would still skip out once we were moving above 50mph. Is there any tricks out there to keep this from happening? we are about to do a shallow river walleye tourney and need our electronics to be flawless!

The other item that came up while we were out is the lakemaster chip that we have in the unit takes a long time to update and we were essentially out running it as we were travelling. Is there an update for the unit itself to help it load the map faster? Thanks guys,

Try bending in the sides of the metal bracket to increase the force needed to kick up the transducer.  You may also look at mounting it higher as well.

The Engineers are working on a software update to help the 997 unit with the large LakeMaster cards but I don’t know how much better it will be.

Hey Greg

Thanks for the reply. Its not really an option on the hull of the tundra to run the transducer higher. The back of the hull is stepped on the boat and it already had the old graph mounted low.  He's got an HDS 7 mounted on the other side of the boat in the same low spot and there is no issue with it. I'll try bending the bracket to see if it helps. Can you give me an ETA on the software update for the 997c?

would my 898 load faster? I have a navionics premium chip for mine but its not as detailed as the lakemaster chip. Let me know. Thanks,

Tom

any update on the software would be great, i crushed a rock bar this past weekend while my graph said loading chart for 30 seconds.

I know it is not the GPS's fault however when i got into tight situations with my lowrance lcx27 and needed to quick zoom in or out it never blanked and said loading maps.  :-\

Takman,
No ETA on the software.
The 898 should load any of the maps faster than the 997 unit.

Thanks again Greg

I'll try the lakemaster chip in mine this weekend to see how it works. I know the navionics one loads quick!

Classic7- Bummer that you crunched a rock..... we are fishing The Emo Walleye classic in a couple of weeks and Rainy River is low... in some cases only 5ft in the channels. We already wrote off a boat in the river this year and really want to avoid that situation again come tournament time.  We set the lakemaster chip to show the shallow areas of the river in red to help us navigate and its pretty accurate I have to say. It just loads slow on my buddies 997c. We will definitely outrun the map in his boat that does 55+MPH. I was outrunning it in my crestliner that does 30MPH. If my 898 runs the sd card  faster then I'll use that on his boat come tourney time! Thanks again for the replies.
