Hi everybody...Well  as you guys know i have been having a problem with my Navionics charts in some locations on Long Island. When i put my curser on a buoy, wreck, port icon or anything like that and push the info button my 998 will shut down and reboot.I contacted Navionics about the problem and today they got back to me this is what they said......"Jim,

Thank you for following up.

I was able to test this chart in our own Humminbird 957 Combo unit running the latest software editions and have been able to duplicate the issue.  I have not been able to duplicate the issue in other compatible units.

I have reported this to our Cartography Department who will look at the chart information to make sure there are no issues in our current data base that may be causing this.  If there are no issues with the chart information on our end, we will pass this along to our OEM Manager who will be in touch with Humminbird directly to work on resolvingany issues the unit may be having accessing this information.

Unfortunately, I do not have a specific time frame at this time on when the issue will be resolved.  I can assure you it will be investigated and we will work on resolving it either in our database or work with Humminbird on resolving the issue if it turns out it is a unit issue.

The report will be filed on your be half with our Cartography Department so you may be contacted once more information becomes available.

Please let me know if you have any other questions."

Best Regards,

Scott Costa

I figured i would post this message just in case somebody in the area has the same problem using Navionics Platinum+ number 674 Boston-Newyork....When i got home i started to check other areas on Long Island and have now found the same problem in the Great South Bay and also in the Atlantic ocean just off the south shore of Long Island. So i think Navionics is going to find out this problem is alot bigger then we think...I will keep everybody informed....

DD,

I am assuming it was your card Navionics tested by making this statement below.

Why don't you suggest to Navionics  to test another new card the same as yours in their HB unit ...If it does not have the same problem as your card then it is a corrupt  card.

You may want to inquire what their update policy is/will be if the problem is determined to be on their end.  I think my Navionics chip allows free updates only in the first year.
