Title: HumminbirdPC and Mac computer
Post by: Ski Trip on March 27, 2013, 10:52:28 AM
I just purchased a HB 998 DI SI and was reading about it and saw where there is software for managing waypoints.  Can anyone tell me whether this will work on a Mac?  Hate to have to go buy a PC just to manage waypoints!  Thanks for your help.

I think HB PC is Windows only.
Another item is that the 998 only recently could use HB PC.

Your 998ci unit will not be recognized by HumminbirdPC because it is running a different programmer language, but your 788ci HD unit should have been.  What version HumminbirdPC are you running?  The current version is 4.3.8  If you are not running this version; try downloading and installing it and see if that helps.

EDIT: After trying this I have found that a 998c Si unit will in fact communicate with HumminbirdPC (version 4.3.8 ).  You still have to use an SD/SDHC memory card to update the software.]

I am not a Mac person, but I know there are Windows Emulators for Mac that would allow you to run Windows programs. ;)

There may even be a free one out there.

Let us know how it turns out!
