SD Card HELP!
« on: January 15, 2012, 12:36:18 PM »
I just got a new 798ci hd unit and loaded Humm PC on my computer I have done some recordings of tracks and waypoints but I take my SD card out of the unit and put in my PC and it sees the SD card but I can not seem to get it to download the data. I know it is there as I can play it back on the head unit. What am I doing wrong??? (I am a guy so the instructions are not helping me :P)

When you plug your SD card into the computer what do you see?

There should be a folder called "Record" and in the file there should be at least to one folder called R00001 (or higher number) and a file called the same R00001.dat.  Inside the R00001 folder there will be 8 more files.  If you do not have these then you may not have recorded anything.  One thing to remember is anytime after you "Start Recording" you must "Stop Recording" otherwise the files will not have an end of file locator and the recordings will not show or work.

If you have these then go to  --->  http://humviewer.cm-johansen.dk/   <---  you can download this software, follow the directions and you should be able to view your recordings.

I have not played with the other ones for a long time so I cannot speak for them.  If you key "Forum" and scroll down the page you will see "Software and Software Development"  there are more programs available.

Thanks George,

I downloaded that viewer and now I can see some recordings. I do not see any waypoints that I have saved. Also How do I link the Google map into that so I can see my track recordings? Thanks!

I have not tried to look at waypoints and do not know if it is possible, hopefully someone that knows about this will let us know.  Never thought about it and would like to try it if it is possible.

if you have google earth installed, just click on view in google earth after everything is loaded up. if you add waypoints after viewing, reload google earth from humviewer to see them.

If you have Google Earth loaded on your computer; once you have exported the Nav Data in your 798ci HD Si unit to the SD card you should be able to load that SD card in your computer and use the HumminbirdPC program.  Once you are viewing your waypoints in HumminbirdPC you should be able to select the waypoint(s) you want to view and use the Google Earth button to see them in Google Earth.

You should also be able to convert the Humminbird waypoint data to a format that Google Earth can open.  Have not done this myself but have heard of others who have.
