Title: Need Help Selecting SD card and Mapping card for 998
Post by: slabbandit on August 15, 2012, 03:15:19 AM
Going to help a friend install a 998 SI on his boat. What size SD card do you guys recommend and what Map card is good to use for Arkansas lakes? Should we wait for the Lakemaster maps to come out for our area?

slabbandit, A SD Card of 4G works just fine.

Navioncs Lake Master Cards and Fishing Hot Spots Cards check the Nanioncs home page.

Some people are using Dr.Deapth or SONAR.TRX to build there own SI botton charts.

I'am very happy with SONAR.TRX!

A 4 or 8 GB SD card is probably all you will need, I also purchased the smallest card I could find, this I use only for making updates to my units.

As far as a navigation cards, Navionics covers everything across the the U.S., Lake Master is expanding so depending on where you live, will determine if you can use a LakeMaster card.

I have both cards and they both have some unique issues both pro and con.  You will need to look at what both cards have for the areas you fish. One may have High Definition lakes that you use while the other may not, so be careful before you make your purchase.

I use a 8GB Sandisk, it is only 8GB instead of 4 because they were on sale for cheaper than 4GBs. I use Navionics (Southern), but I may get lakemaster next time.

Thanks for the advice. I'll pick up an 8 GB card tomorrow and we'll probably wait and see what Lakemaster comes out with for Arkansas.
