596c HD DI and sonar interference with trolling motor
« on: March 22, 2011, 10:11:28 AM »
Ok, I installed the new 596 HD DI on my Minnkota Maxxum trolling motor. Now it works perfect while Im not using the trolling motor but as soon as I step on the foot pedal the screen clouds up and the depth will go crazy. The instant I let off the foot pedal it goes back to normal and reads perfect. I thought it was maybe due to the turbulence coming off the trolling motor but I scooted the transducer as far back as possible and still the same thing. Now Im thinking it has something to do with the power. Ohh and another thing that might be causing this is that my trolling motor has a built in transucer from my previous depth finder. Thanks, and any help is appreciated!

Sounds like interference.  We see this all over this forum with trolling motor hookup.
Rather than list problems, you might use the search tab at the top and look around the forum for "hit" . Be creative on the search word(s).
In general interference is or can be wiring, other outside signals,  other equipment.

You are not alone and many posts on just this subject..
