Title: AS GPS HS Puck Mounting???
Post by: d1 on January 24, 2021, 09:43:53 PM
Pretty simple question:  Does the Humminbird GPS Receiver/Compass have to installed completely level.  I plan on installing it on the rear/transom area on a Ranger 620.  It is not the splashwell area, but the areas to the left and right of splashwell.  These spots angle slightly downward, maybe 15 degrees.

Also, are these GPS pucks waterproof?

I doubt you would see any detriment to the function at that small of angle (the compass is electronic)  ...

I would assume the puck is waterproof as it is stated to mount it open to the sky (therefore in the rain)  ...

I appreciate the reply.

The waterproof inquiry was based on the fact it will be mounted at back of boat.  In this area water will come over the splashwell area and cover the puck for a short time.

I was not concerned about rain water.

Good day to you.
