Zipper Effect
« on: April 09, 2015, 02:57:29 PM »
Does anyone (Humminbird Greg??) know if this has been or will corrected?  For those who don't know what I'm talking about, it is the noise that is created in the SI view when using the 83kHz or 83/200 kHz transducer.  The bottom edge is offset a pixel or two horizontally every other pixel or so as the screen scrolls.  This does not occur when using only the 200kHz transducer.

It happens on both my 1198 and my 1199.  It started occurring on my 1198 a year or so ago following a software update.  Its been happening on the 1199 since I got it.

Just wondering if any progress or attempts at progress have been made.

Most are reporting that the Si is good in the newest release which you are indicating you have in your profile.  Can you post a screen shot of what you are talking about .... with the 7.510 release.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

I'll be on the water all next week and will be able to confirm, for sure, whether or not the issue still exists and will update this post with my results.

FYI - The zipper effect is still present on the SI image in the latest firmware version when 83/200 or 83KHz sonar is selected.

I'm staying at 6.310 on my 1197 just because of that very "zipper" reason ...

I would much rather have better images than be able to use my AS GPS HS antenna ...

Yep, that's it rnvinc.

Humminbird Greg - Do you know if this is an issue that is even being worked on by Humminbird?

I do not know Whistler, I am not provided with a list of what the Engineers are or are not working on.

Greg - Is it something you could check on?  I'm just curious as to whether Humminbird is planning to address it.

Whistler, If I did check on it and this information is not released to the public, I cannot comment on it.  If it has been released to the public than I do not remember it.

I like my 6.310 ...

I've learned to use the donut effectively ... So the AS GPS HS antenna in 6.570 is not as important to me as the better SI in 6.310 ...
