Title: Losing depth reading on 1198c
Post by: muskyjeff84 on July 03, 2013, 03:12:31 PM
Was out yesterday and had trouble off and on with my depth reading on my 1198c.  Worked fine about half of the time but would change to 2.2 feet and locked on that number for quite a while.  Seemed to do it in both shallow and deep water.  The map screen seemed to work fine.  Any ideas of what could cause this?

- make sure you have the lastest firmware installed.

- check to see if your transducer has been lifted out of the water (or is pointed on an angle)....sometimes this happened to me. just need to push it back down.

If that does not help muskyjeff84, tell us what transducer(s) you have connected to your 1198 unit and where it/they are mounted.

Sometimes setting the Surface Clutter menu to a higher setting can help with this as can setting the Water Type menu to the Salt (deep) setting.
