Title: 997c SI and 957c compatability issue.
Post by: Delta Bass Fool on May 08, 2019, 01:19:08 AM
Hi all,

I have a 997c SI and a 957c that I would like to be able to share way points between the two etc.  Just recently I installed the AS Interlink directly to each unit and powered the 997c SI on to find out that the graph tells me it's programming the AS Interlink.  So I let it do it's thing for a few minutes and when it was finished I powered it off and back on to make sure it was working as it should.  It checked out A OK and was powered off to check the 957c and AS Interlink compatibility.

When I powered on the 957c I get a message that tells me the unit can not communicate with the AS Interlink or something to that affect and that the firmware needs to be updated and this is where my concerns come in to play.

Since the 997C SI is working as it should I don't want to fix what is not broken.  I also am having an issue finding a firmware update number for the 957c that matches the firmware loaded to the 997c SI.

At the moment the 997c SI unit has firmware 4.950 loaded and the 957c has firmware 3.520 loaded.  Is there a firmware 4.950 for the 957c and if so would that be the best rout to take to try and get the unit to communicate with the 997c SI unit via the AS Interlink?

The 957c is not listed in the Software download section here at sideimagingsoft and the HB website lists 6.300 as the latest version for the 957c  ...

You might call HB and ask if 6.300 will allow the 957c to connect to your 997 thru Interlink  ...

Yeah I came to the same synopses which is why I figured I'd ask here before calling Humminbird.  Out of warranty and outdated so I am not to confident they are going to want to help out much.  I had both of my graphs registered but I think it was under a different email account and can't find it.  It's a shame they don't provide a list of updates in sequential order from oldest to newest so I could match the units up with same or close to the same updates.  I don't want to have to update the 997 if I don't have to.  It's a good working graph with only 8 hours on it so no need to go bricking a good graph to communicate with a less capable unit.

Ok just Finished a Chat session with Gwen from Humminbird.  She told me that both units need to be on the same .bin number to communicate properly with each other and the latest two updates are all she has access to at the moment.  Also each unit although named the same .bin number are not same file with regards to different model numbers and not to try using a .bin for a different model number the .bin was designed to be used with.  She said she would do some more digging and get back to me later.  I’m crossing my fingers and hoping she finds a 4.950.bin for the 957c
