Have a Humminbird Helix 7 Chirp SI GPS G2N
I understand Humminbird states that if the unit has a SD card the head unit does not interface directly to a PC
Is this indeed true?
Sure hope not / I do not much like removing the TINY Micro SD card too fragile
Which cable set is the preferred interface method if my unit will directly connect to HumminbirdPC
AS PC 3 cable or AS EC CHART and AS EC QDE cables?
The Ethernet interface would be my choice then I can easily add the Helix to my switch/router and see it on the network
Thanks in advanced for the help

The HELIX 7 SI is not listed as compatible with the AS PC adapter cable ...
Click "Shop Compatible Accessories" at the bottom of this page ...
https://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-PC3/ (https://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-PC3/)
HB can verify this for sure for you ...

I do not put much faith in their web site compatibility listings
Many times the items listed and the pictures differ - additionally they are not up to date with Helix accessories
Tried talking with a real person at Humminbird that might know something with NO luck

OK so I'll email someone and see what I can dig up ...

If you want to use HUMMINBIRD PC with the HELIX 7 GPS units we recommend using it via the MSD card. If you rather use the PC Connection cable which was designed for units that have no MSD/SD card slot then you would use the AS PC3, PC connection kit to attach the unit to the computer to interface with the Humminbird PC program.

Thanks
So do I understand correctly
That either the USB or the Ethernet interface will actually work with my Helix unit?
I really DON'T like removing and reinstalling the very fragile 32gig micro SD card
Using Ethernet interface does the unit require a DHCP Server or can I fix the IP address?
Noticed the MAC address and that the IP address was all dashed lines - what is the default IP?
-
The AS PC3 has a USB connection with a Humminbird com port connector; not an Ethernet connection.
-
The cable set I am referencing does have an RJ45 Ethernet connection - not the USB connection
"AS EC CHART and AS EC QDE cables?

Looking for an answer to the IP address questions in the earlier post

The AS EC CHART is for use only with the Autochart (Pro) program to directly recording live sonar data to the program . This is the communication cable available to support the Autochart Live PC Draw and works only with that Autochart (Pro) programs.

OK one last time before i give up at this site

A few very simply questions - was looking forward to a few straight forward answers

Altho I don't know the answers to your questions (I have to defer to Deb for that info) ...
I am curious as to what data/information you would like to be able to derive from the HB unit simply because HB labels their data transfer protocalls as "Ethernet" ...??
I enjoy learning more about these units also ...

Each unit has its own unique MAC address. It does not display the unit's IP address until it is networked with another Humminbird Product such as the 360, radar, Autochart PC (LIVE), or another Humminbird Ethernet unit. The IP address for the unit is fixed you can not change it.
