Nix with SI and XNT1420T Tranducers

I wasn't able to get depth at high speed with the SI transducer that came with my Onix 10.
The dealer added the XNT1420T transducer with the Y cable.  Now, I have no side imaging or down imaging.
Anyone know how to correct this ?

Is your DI and SI still selected under Sonar/Source in the main master menu ...??

It is.  I've gone through all the menus and I believe the settings are correct.   From what I can tell at this point the 2D is coming from the SI transducer.

Please post the results of your findings .... I am running Onix 10 SI NT and have the XNT1420T, the y cable and the SI transducer as well.

I knew, from past life experience - the big SI transducers are terrible on some boats (like my Lund Tyee) for loosing signal with the bottom at higher speeds due to the turbulence my hull creates.

That's why I ordered the extra Y cable and XNT1420T ....

I couldn't get a depth reading over 35mph, it would read from 300 to 2000 ft.  I have a Lund 1875 with a Mercury 200 Verado Pro.  So, i added the XNT1420T with the Y cable.  I had the dealer install it yesterday.  I listed the issue in the post.  My dealer wasn't much help this morning so I decided to dig into the installation this afternoon.  I found they had the transducers plugged into the Y cable incorrectly.  They were switched even though the Y  cable leads are clearly marked.  I took the boat out this evening and everything is working perfectly.  The Onix is a great unit.

It amazes me at the reoccurrence of dealers installing the AS SIDB Y cable backwards ...

There are tags on the AS SIDB Y cable that clearly indicted which leg goes to which xducer ...

I wonder if dealers can read ... ??

I agree.  I have no idea how they can get them backwards.  Aside from being clearly marked, each cable is a different diameter.  At least match up the cable sizes.

The Onix does not give me reliable high speed depth reading as well - I am not exactly sure how to correct that .... I assume the Onix would automatically use the XNT1420 for high speed 2d sonar wouldn't it? If not how do I set it up that way?

One side note - The SI and XNT transducers (both on the Y cable) are mounted about 4" apart on the transom but I needed to mount them on the same side of the transom because I'm running a 858 with a XNT920 (83/200) on the opposite side. I am running a 858 with XNT920 (83/200) on the opposite side of the transom - with no issues.

I hesitate to remove that XNT920 transducer because it does give me good and reliable readings off the 858.

I also know the two XNT transducers should be further apart (opposite sides of the transom) to reduce or eliminate the possibility of interference.

Any thoughts?

f your Onix and the XNT 14 20 are connected using the AS 14 SIDB Y cable ... The 2d readings will always be coming from the XNT 14 20 ...(the AS 14 SIDB Y cable disconnects the wires going to the 2d piezo in the XT 14 74 HDSI T) ...

If your XNT 9 20 is getting good high speed readings on one side of the transom ... The XNT 14 20 should give identical high speed readings on the opposite side of the transom in the same relative position ...(I think they are the same housing design) ...

Agreed 100% in theory - except the XNT14 20 isn't giving me good readings at all - after 20 - 30 mph. The lake bottom reads anywhere from 1 ft to 6000 ft....... I adjusted the transducer and fiddled with it ...... nothing changed ...... it's mounted on the exact same place (but opposite of the XNT 9 ) in relation to the strakes (in between them), and depth of the transducer is identical with the inboard parting line at the level of the bottom of the hull ......... I'm at a loss to explain it.

I think it has to have something to do with the proximity of the SI transducer as it's mounted pretty close 4"-6" away. The next thing I will try is separating them a little further apart. I understand that these two transducers (since they are running two different frequencies) should have no issues ........ but I don't know what else to try at this point.

*Press and hold the menu button (or double click the menu button) ...
*Select "Sonar Source" ...
*Select and shut off the DI source and the SI source from the right panel ...(leaving only the 2d source functional) ...
*Disconnect the AS 14 SIDB Y cable from the Onix and plug the XNT 14 20 T directly to the Onix ...
*Turn off all other electronics except the Onix connected to the XNT 14 20 T ...
*Test the XNT 14 20 T at speed ...

If the high speed readings are correct ... There is a issue with multiple xducers or units running ...
It the high speed test is still yuk ... You have a XNT 14 20 T mounting issue ...
