Using SI to detect fish under docks in shallow water
« on: February 17, 2015, 09:49:33 AM »
I just read the post on using SI in shallow water and did not want to hijack the topic thus this new one.

The SI in shallow water topic had great tips on setting range and using the 455 vs 800 to get clearer images.  Can I assume the same would hold true for detecting fish under docks in the 2-8ft depth ranges.  Just speculating but I would think that restricting the view to just the left or right image(depending on which side the dock was on) should give one a pretty good picture under the dock.  If someone could post or direct me to existing images of some shots showing fish(bass or crappie) under docks I'd appreciate it.  Any tips on screen settings would also be helpful...like what are the best SI screen colors to use?

You would be correct mako9man2, especially about displaying one side only.  I don’t have any screen snapshots of fish under docks but I’m sure that someone will come by that does.

When it comes to screen colors it is really a personal; preference.  Use what shows you the best detail and/or contrast so that you can pick out fish from the sonar returns from the dock and/or lake bottom.
