997 and 1197 problem
« on: February 13, 2011, 09:42:08 PM »
Ok guys see if you can help me with this one.  I have a 997 and an 1197 with the interlink. They were installed last June and everything has worked perfect until last weekend.  I noticed the 997 started loosing the interlink connection and occasionally would reconnect but most of the time it would stay unconnected. The same time the 1197 started loosing it's depth reading mainly when I was idling. I could be in 18' and all of a sudden it would start reading 2.7' and I would have no 2D reading. I do not know what the software number is but approximatly 6 weeks ago I took them both to Bass Pro and they updated them. Seems strange to me that both of them started acting crazy on the same day, so I am wondering is this possibly a problem with the interlink box itself? Thanks for any help in advance.

LMH....have you tried looking at the connectors and cables.  Positive pin connection is a concern with the HB plugs and connectors..  Not every problem is associated with the cables but just a place to start also.
I also seem to remember that the code is suspect also.
But in the meantime check the connections...

Was this the first time that you used these units after getting the software updated?
Were both units running at the same time when the depth started 2.7 feet than nothing at all?
