I tend to agree with Rudiger that it degrades the professionalism of the site and leads to looking more like a social networking media...

I know it's your site and all Robert...but maybe a poll to see how the membership feels..??

as oppose to posting an agreeable comment, the like button substitutes, I could care less about social media, but I like the "LIKE "button, maybe mr. Gecy should run a poll, like or dislike.

There are many forums that use the "applaud" feature.  It is built in to the forum software and is basically a way of ranking posters content by + and - or basically likes and dislikes.  I didn't want to use the standard applaud feature and wanted to see how this mod worked instead.  I kind of LIKE it!  ::)

It does not matter to me one way or the other.  But this site is very much a social networking site.  It is just content specific!

Hi all

I am pleased with all the responses to my topic. ;)
Yes, I am against any ranking in such a professional forum, whether as birds, tittel or LIKE `s

x2 with JDX,  i use it as a quick response to a post i agree with or like.  helps when i have very little time but still want to see whats going on.  not into the "my stat is more than your stat", way to good of a forum for childish games like that.

I'm cool with it. We have it on some of our other go to fishing forums. I don't think it detracts from the site. It may help people make better decisions before they post, because then they will KNOW that others think they are obnoxious or posting uselessness, when they don't get any likes on any of their posts.

You know, the good part about the forum here is we really haven't had any obnoxious posters!  I try to keep things pretty civil!

There might be some validity to Rüdiger's concern in that this forum is for everyone.  I have not given it any thought as to how professional this sight is or isn't.  The posts we get are at every level of sophistication, some of the simplest have the best information and how many time is the same question repeated and repeated and repeated?

But there are many subjects that that I have no interest in and then sometime when looking at them I find it has helped me in some ways.

My concern is that folks may not post their questions if they thought it may be disliked.  The only posts I dislike is when someone is spamming us with stuff which has no place on this forum.

In my opinion I do not think this sight can get any better, it is my place to go for information.  Everyone and I mean everyone has contributed to helping us to get the most out of our HB products.

George :D :D ::) >:D
