I posted a towfish question in the xumba.scholleco forum and have received no replies. Hopefully, I can some opinions here - My plan is for an experimental shallow running towfish, and a couple of questions.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am in the process of building a simple towfish with a 1" thinwall PVC body. The plan is to make a short 1' nose section filled with concrete coupled to a 3' hollow (water filled when submerged) body. The inexpensive PVC will allow me to experiment with various lengths, weights and balance. The transducer will be attached below (outside) the tubing. I plan to have it run only about 5' deep until I get it working. My questions are about balance - at what position should I attach the tow point, and whether it should be slightly nose heavy, tail heavy, or balanced when suspended in the water? I have a spare SI transducer and just placed an order for a transducer switch. Thanks,
