help
« on: June 22, 2010, 08:26:20 PM »
Since downloading new software, the wife and I were really excited about using it. We went to the wrecks and couldn't pickup anything at all except a black screen on the SI and DI. I tried changing from deep saltwater to shallow saltwater. Left it on Automatic. Still no change. We were tying to fish anywher from 40-90 ft of water.  I do however like the 3 pallettes. Any idea on what I need to do? The bottom structure looked good, but couldn't tell what they were. Thanks everyone,

Check the distances on your side view. Your side view should not be more than 3 times the depth for best results. Just a guess as to the problem.

Did you make any recordings or take any snapshots?  This would help tremendously.

Did you restore the defaults after the update?  What steps did you use when doing the update? Did you insert the SD card before or after powering on the unit?

Check the connections on the cables and make sure they are tight.

With being in 40 ft of water, I had side imaging on 80 ft on both sides. I didn't take any snapshots cause couldn't see anything but a black screen. As far as the software, I downloaded onto SD card. Restored the default on gps. Put card in. After uploading to gps. It said I had done succesfully with latest version. I left that card in there. Its a 2 gb card. I didn't restore the defaults after the upload. Do I need to restore defaults again?---I read that I may have to turn the settings to 20 instead of Auto for brighter images. I read this this morning on another topic.

I would reinstall the previous update and see if everything is good.  If so, then try to reinstall the new update.  Follow the steps below:

- Power on unit (remove all SD cards)
- restore defaults
- insert SD card with update
- follow prompts and once update finishes unit will reboot,
- remove sd card,
- restore defaults
