Transducer Placement on Tunnel Hull
« on: January 26, 2014, 05:54:53 PM »
Looking for some opinions on where to mount my transducer. Boat is a 1872 Sea Ark tunnel hull with flotation pods on the back. I have had it mounted in two different locations with no reading issues however twice now the cheap plastic mounting bracket HB made for the compact transducer wont hold up to 26 MPH water pressure. I have invested in a transducer shield & saver bracket with the armor plate so no more weak plastic to break off. This mount is taller and is giving me a hard time trying to figure out where to mount it, as stated earlier I had no issues with reading at other two locations (see pics) but don't think this bracket will fit there. I can go further in toward the tunnel and slide my trailer bunks forward but am worried I will get clutter from the rib in the hull and also that the transducer will be too low and prone to impact. Any thoughts from the experts?

Pic 2 looks like the best option but I see the weld where the pod is welded to the transom...

Can you take a piece of Starboard (or Teflon cutting board) and shape it to fit over the weld where the pod is welded to the transom to give a better flat surface to mount the xducer bracket...

Your boat is definetly unique...I don't recall ever seeing one come thru sideimagingsoft...

This unique-ness probably has us all scratching our heads...
