798ci si down imaging software addition
« on: November 26, 2011, 11:06:08 PM »
ok, totally confused - i called hb and asked if i could download down imaging on a 798ci si (2010 model) - they said yes. the gave me instructions on how to do this however after i purchased the unit and went to the update section - i didnt see it there, so has anyone ever done this before?
i sure hate to think that it cost 200.00 more just to get the 798ci si hd (2011)which has the down imaging already on it.

Does the 798 already have Side and Down imaging from the factory?

Down Imaging for a lot of us was a software update, not sure whether your unit came with the new software.  But it does not matter, the Down Imagining portion is a software change.  The latest software update for your unit is 5.450, check your unit to determine if it needs to be updated.

If it needs updating go to: Click on "Forum" at the top the go down to:

Software Downloads then:

Humminbird Firmware / Software Updates - Downloads - first one then click on (you can click on this ->) http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?action=downloads

798CI_5.450 is the latest software update

Also from what I have read you may need to spend some time to adjust your unit to improve the picture.

at this point all literature and information on box as well as humminbird website is telling me no. i guess i should have also said that i have ye to power it up. i want to make sure first because if i update the software and it does'nt work then i am stuck with the unit. i guess i should power it up on my boat first huh. i am going to check to see if the existing power cable on my 787ci2 is the same and check it out.

confusedfisherman,

I also brought the 798ci SI 2010 unit in Nov.  It did not have Down Imaging but I up dated the software and now it does. It works great. Turn your unit on and at the loading screen hit menu go to status to see what software you have. I am running my unit in the house with a auto jump start system. Did some recording the only time out so I could play with the unit all winter too cold to fish, just hunting now. I registered with HB and they gave me the latest update of 5.840 maybe we should upload the software here.

Enjoy

I love the water

I thought that Greg was going to load the new software here.
I checked and it is not in the download section...
So you will have to go to HB unless someone else can send you the code...

Nope.  I tried but I can’t Chuck due to the upload file size limit restriction.  Robert will have to load the software for this and many of the other units.

Greg, did you try the bigfile send.  I think you have the permissions to load code. You may have to pack it first..to get by the constraints of your server for sending file size..
The other thing might be to send Robert a cd of the files...

Using BigFile send won’t work as I would have to send it directly to the web site and I don’t think that will work as the web site asks for an e-mail address.

I think that Robert has access to the software update files – but maybe not the time to load them all.

I know the bigfile is sent to an id but figured that might be the way to get it to Robert...Now as far as his time.  We he is a working boy also... ::)
But at least you could get it in his hands...
