The 7.808 software was released for the 898/998/1198 units and is basically the same as the 6.900/6.940/7.020 software update:

898 (Version 7.080)
Release Date: 05/27/2014
Description:

v7.080
General Fixes
•   Removes NMEA0183 functionality when i-Pilot Link is connected
•   Corrects issues caused when user follows the contour while recording an iTrack and AutoPilot is turned on.
•   Corrects issue where iTracks were not being deleted from all units on the network
•   Corrects issue where sonar continued to ping after sonar was turned off.
New Features
•   Adds support for AutoChart PC and Zeroline SD cards

The 2.070/2.020 software for the i-Pilot Link Controller/Remote for non-ONIX units running 6.900 software or higher has been out for a few weeks, maybe a month now.

Greg - I recently purchased a 998c HD Si.  It came with v6.680 loaded.  I've seen that this is old news, but the 2D screens are pixelated and nowhere close to the screen images on my 788c.  I do like to use the 200/87 dual beam as well as the SI / DI which are great.  Have the 2D pixilation issues been resolved in this or previous releases? As I use this on the console and not the bow, I won't be using it for dropshotting and it won't be connected to a 360 or iPilot.  As I just got the unit - I want the warranty and don't want to revert to a previous update and nullify my HB Select.  Please advise.....

Greg
In the update it states "•   Removes NMEA0183 functionality when i-Pilot Link is connected" Will this have an affect on live recording with AUtochart?

Jstew,
There have been no changes to the 2D sonar that I know if, so I would expect that the 7.080 is no different than the software you have loaded now.  I certainly would not install any software version older than the original 6.680 that came with it.

Yes it will TTF, if you are using the NMEA 0183 connection to your computer.
If you are using the Ethernet connection it will not.

I wonder what their reasoning behind this is. Did it interfere with link. I wonder what a work around would be. another unit not on the ethernet for nmea out should work.

It would work TTF.
Their thinking was that the NMEA 0183 and Ethernet communications cannot both be run at the same time – the same as it always has been since we added Ethernet capability the units.
