Helix 9 CHIRP MEGA DI GPS G3N Transducer Compatibility
« on: March 18, 2019, 03:12:57 PM »
I have a Helix 7 CHIRP DI G2 with a XTM 9 DI 25 T transducer.  The transducer cable has been routed down the shaft of my MinnKota Terrova with 3M 4200 adhesive.

I'm thinking of replacing that Helix G2 unit with a HELIX 9 CHIRP MEGA DI GPS G3N and wanted to make sure that the XTM 9 DI 25 T is compatible.

Hbird's transducer chart seemed to say it was, but I noticed that their description of the Helix G3N mentioned something about a "low-Q" transducer, so I wanted to be sure before I pulled the trigger since the XTM 9 DI 25 T cable is kind of "stuck" to the Terrova.

Thx,

Will

G3N is "compatible" with the XTM 9 DI 25 T by changing the Connected Transducer selection to "DI + 200/455kHz"  ...

You just won't have the benefit of the Low Q xducer that comes stock with the G3N  ... (Somewhat cleaner 2d images)  ...

Yeah, HBird emailed me to say "if you are wanting MEGA DI, you will need to use the transducer that comes in the box with the G3 unit because the HELIX G2N DI and HELIX G3N MEGA DI units have different transducers"

So I guess I'll exchange the G3N transducer in the box for a XTM 9 HW MDI T, and then do the Terrova cable routing all over again.

Thanks!
