Title: Importing waypoints to unit
Post by: burnside68 on January 09, 2013, 10:03:01 PM
I have been creating waypoints on Humminbird PC program and was wanting to import them into my 898 unit. Is it possible to save them on the sd card and load them from there onto the unit? I have had no luck with this, though it seems like this should work

Once you are done with editing your NAV data from
Humminbird PC.  You want to UPLOAD to your SD card.

Then, when you put the card back into the unit
it should automatically load them in.

ITG is right.  Saving the Nav Data will create a gpx type file on the SD card.  Using the Upload function will create the DATA.HWR file (and Matrix folder) on the SD card that the unit needs to load the waypoint data.

Just make sure you do not end up with any duplicate waypoints names. check the file before loading into your unit..

Thanks for the replies. I was actually uploading the waypoints to my sd, but the unit was not responding, not uploading the waypoints. In another post I saw that others have had an issue with this in the past. Starting the unit up, with the sd card already in, doesn't always work. I just needed to power up the unit first, then put the card in. When I did this, it worked perfectly. New waypoints are in unit and ready to go. Now if the weather would just get a little better, I could try them out on the lake.

You have to install the SD card after the unit is already powered up and running for it to look for and recognize that there are new waypoints to add.  This was changed awhile back in software version 6.300 (and after) and was a Customer requested feature.
