Title: Importing Waypoints
Post by: George on August 11, 2012, 12:18:28 PM
Recently I purchased an 1198 for my new boat and manually recorded waypoints from a map and other information that I had.

Everything was ok for a while then I lost all of the waypoints, my brain was not engaged and I formatted the Nav Directories and lost all of the waypoints.

I have most of the waypoint on my 1197, so I exported them to SD card.  My normal practice is to insert the SD cards only when the unit is off then turn it on, I found that this works for updating new revisions but not for installing new waypoints.

After many frustrating try to get the unit to recognize and import the waypoints, I finally shut the unit off and removed the card and reinstalled it after the unit was up and running and it finally imported the waypoints from my 1197.

It would be much easier if waypoints had an import function like the export function.

Bob

It certainly is a teaching tool when you are not being careful.

Interestingly, I have Navionics Hotmaps Explorer and Contour Elite for Texas/Oklahoma and both are a pain in the neck to record the waypoints and to export them.  Found it easier to record the data directly into the HB units, but this time I have exported the data to a card.
