Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all
I have a 1197si unit with a transom mount si transducer and a HB thru hull on a Y splitter with a switch. The boat is a 27 ft World cat boat, with twin Yamahas on the back. I very often lose the bottom on the rough days after about 300 feet. on really calm days I have been able to read bottom out to 800 feet. Sometimes the bottom comes back for a short time, but usually kicks out again. I can sometimes switch from one transducer to the other and this triggers the unit to reach bottom. Sometimes I will shut down the unit and re-boot and bottom will read. While drifting , it goes out but when I am motoring slowly it sometimes will come back. First Question, would a 1000watt transducer solve this problem? Would a shoot thru vrs a thru hull transducer be the answer? Could the problem be due to a catamaran hull vrs a mono hull? I have the unit set for deep saltwater. Are the returns coming back to slowly or possibly an issue with the surface clutter or ping speed? Any other settings that I can make to correct this problem? Really like the unit, and have had Great customer service when I have had problems in the past. Sure could use some good advice. Thanks in advance. Gregg
