Onix will not recognize my iPilot link
« on: March 19, 2015, 06:16:13 PM »
I owned a 998ci before I purchased the Onix10 ci. I had no problem with the iPilot link marrying up with the 998. I have updated both my controller and remote with the lasted update. The Onix came with update v2.000. Help

Did you reload the ipilot link after you got the Onyx? You must use different remote and controller updates with Onyx. Bob

Fotoguy,
There are different software file types for the core units like your 998ci HD Si unit and the ONIX units like your ONIX 10ci.  You will have to reload software into both the Controller and the Remote (New Controller software was just released).  There are directions on how to do this properly on the web site.

Greg can confirm but I read that you cant use onix and core (998) on ipilot link at the same time because they have different link software. so once you upgrade your link to Onix you will not be able to use core units again.   :( :(

Fotoguy, how did the update work for you?  I have a similar problem with my iLink and an ONIX 10 SI NT.  If I directly connect the Ethernet cable to my ONIX unit, it doesn't see the iLink at all - can't update it if I can't see it.  However, I tried it on my old 798 HD, with 7.120 software and was able to connect immediately to the iLink.  I could update all the code to 2.150 for the controller, and 2.040 for the remote.  I then reconnected it back to the ONIX to see if the new code would help, no dice.  What's the trick to get the ONIX to see it on the network?  Wife doesn't think it is too cool that the old unit works and the new one does not after the chunk of change for the ONIX  ???http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/Smileys/classic/huh.gif

Welcome to the Humminbird Side imaging Forums shewstring.

You need to contact the Humminbird Customer Service folks about this.  The iPilot Link (both the Controller and the Remote) use different software update files to be able to communicate with the ONIX model units.  The Humminbird CS folks can help you with this.  Just know that Mondays are the busiest day of the week for these folks, so either call early and be prepared to wait a little bit or call another day.

Greg, I did Chat with Humminbird CS today. They sent me a patch for the ONIX NT.  It worked immediately after updating. Humminbird CS is top notch.

Good to hear shewstring, now start posting some screen snapshots of what you see on your ONIX NT and what the results are because we love pictures!

I too, ironically, just installed my Onix 10 SI NT yesterday and was surprised to see it did not recognize my i-pilot link. i have 2 questions ...

1) If there is a patch, where would I find the download? ..... I'm guessing I have the same issue as outlined by the OP. I was looking on the list of downloads and didn't see it anywhere - might be a good idea to have on there - as now I have to wait for Customer Service to come in Monday ..... at the end of the day I expect the fix to be an easy patch ...... easily handled by most customers themselves.

2) My unit was purchased yesterday - the update that was supposed to take 30 minutes according to the FAQ BUT took 60 seconds, but the version reads 2.0 (so I'm guessing it was pre-loaded with version 2.0 maybe????) I hope it worked properly.

If anyone has the patch - or a clue how/where to find it ..... please let me know ..... so I'm not waiting for support watching the weekend tick by ...

the easiest way to get the patch is start an online chat with the humminbird support.  You can start the chat and do other things on your computer until they join in.  Takes about 45 seconds for them to get you the patch once they review your problem.  This is the file you need:

Please see the attached software regarding our chat conversation today. Regards,Jennifer

That's it, I called Minn Kota and they sent me a patch to upload to the ONIX and it worked. Only thing know is interference on the ONIX while I am running my link. When I unplug the link from the ONIX it will stop. Now sent I uploaded the new software 2.300 I have different problems. The depth readout jumps from normal depth to 5 or 6000 feet deep. I have talked with Deborah at Humminbird  about the problem. I still do not have a answer yet. They give me all the same answers I have already tried. I have talked with other ONIX owners that are having the same problems.
