Title: My SI/DI pics
Post by: RonnieB on May 16, 2015, 04:15:35 PM
Ok, you Humminbird heads, here are are some pics from last 4 days in some miserable conditions. For the most part they are better than last time.

Unit would not save to my SD card (I think it is a bad card), otherwise I would have had hundreds of pics. What is the internal limit of saved images allowed on Onix?

To change frequencies ...

2d frequencies ...: (easier in full screen view - not a split screen view) ...
*Touch kHz in top data bar ...
*Choose frequency ...

SI/DI frequencies ...:
*Press and hold Menu button (or press Menu button twice) to get into main menu ...
*Touch or select "Sonar" in the left panel ...
*Touch or select "Beam Select SI" (or DI) ...
*Choose frequency ...

There are other ways to get to the same settings but I'm still learning too ...

BTW ... your screenshots look great ...

I would suggest setting the imaging frequency for SI different from DI ...

This will eliminate the dark bands running parallel along the SI image bottom detail caused by the SI and DI transmits on the same frequency ...

Choose 455kHz for one (SI or DI) ... And choose the opposite frequency for the other (SI or DI) ...

Wow! This forum is better than customer service! And they're real good.  :D
I take a pen and pad with me when I go and make notes on areas that I can"t figure out, so when I get home I can research the solution. My Onix has a built in manual which is brilliant.

I'm getting better at know buttons, but my 1 cell brain overheats and shut down sometimes :P

Quick access to the sonar source by pressing power button.

Thanks again, Rickie.
ps. yall be resting up. I am going on 3 day fishing trip. Will have lots of pictures and questions. Hopefully more pictures than questions ;D

The "Sonar Source" menu is indeed available with 1 quick press of the power button ...

In the "Sonar Source Select" menu that pops up ... Select "2d + DI + SI" ...

This will open a menu that allows changing the frequency of the 2d sonar and the SI sonar ...

But there is no option to change the DI frequency ...Only to shut off the DI source ...

The only way I have found to change the DI frequency is thru the "Sonar Source" menu from the main menu system I noted in post #2 above ...

Ok, I cannot get DI to come on. I've went to "Settings", "Set-up",
and even restored to factory default.  Any ideas?

Lost DI? It reads "Disabled" below it? It does not give me the option to turn it on in Sonar Source. It is grayed out. My external DI transducer kept kicking up  :-X  I will remedy that before next trip. Should've got one that shoots thru hull  :-\.

SI worked great as long as I was moving, otherwise it was useless data.

I was is South La. Shallow Saltwater. Conditions choppy, visibility 2ft. I attached some pics from trip. Please forgive the group screenshot. Human error :-\  The 360 really disappointed me. Look at the only 360 in Amber pallete on bottom row. I tried EVERY combination of sensitivity, contrast & sharpness. That was the best I could get. It was choppy & murky and I suspected I was getting alot of bubbles. But at about 10 o'clock in the Amber 360 pic you will see an "L" shape. That is the corner of a wooden oil platform. It showed some dots for the wooden legs. Not much detail at all. The 360 was about 30ft from first leg. I thought I would at least see legs. Is salt water & clarity the reason?
The next picture of 360 in Blue was against a rock jetty. I was hoping to better clarity of the individual rocks?? (notice DI icon in status bar looks like it is on)
And the last picture happened several times throughout the days? Batteries were brand new and fully charged. I checked connections. I cannot remember it I was trolling or not. Maybe interference? It is bow mount IPilot Link Ulterra. I am not using the US2 on it.(notice DI Icon in status bar looks like it is on and the DI pic looks like it is working??)
