can you link the 999 to a 998 with Ethernet and will they work the same

Yes but you have to watch which software versions are used.

Not exactly the same but there are some restrictions with the 6.680 and 6.900/6.940 software right now.

You posted on another topic:
“will the 6.740 on the 998 work with the 6.840 on the 999 ?”
Since both units are above the 6.680 and below the 6.900 versions they should work when Ethernet connected together.
