Towfish HDSi transducer from Humminbird - would you buy one?

No promises that this would happen.  Just wondering how many would actually consider buying one.  I have no idea what the cost for one of these would be.

Our team would buy one and I am sure other SAR teams here in Kentucky would do the same. Price should be in within range of non profit teams.
We do this, so others may live

Dammit, yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

Allthough I got mine up and running:

No blisters on my fingers from soldering these tiny wires,
No risk of smoking the unit if the soldering or the sealing of the cable is screwed up,
No wondering if the whole tinkering would work and the cable is the right one,
No running through the whole procedure if I would loose the fish or the transducer would be killed in action.

I'm sure there are more reasons, so yes, I would buy one.
That said, I would buy one for sure if I switch from my 981 to a 898, 998, 997 or 1197 to have a HDSI transducer.
And even then, I would also go for an "old" SI transducer to have the 262 kHz for more range and a clearer screen. And since there are still others with 981s and 987s (ZEUS), these units should not be forgotten.

A tested and certified original transducer from Humminbird with an extended cable would sell, no doubt.

The price? 200 US $ would seem reasonable for me.
The length? 50 meters at least! If possible and sold for let's say 220 US $ a 100m version would be great!

My 2 cents
Harry

good idea
if the cable is drive resistant (200 kg) it's well
whe must make no heavy towfish!! ;)
and whe can decrease the portance cable in water.

Well why not? I would probably buy one, if the price is not too high.

At 50 - 100m long I would buy at least two units.  Even more so if fitted with strain relief.

If HB were to build a towfish it MUST have a safety cable.(strain relief).
If an outside company were to build a tow fish they should have a strain relief cable related in length to the towfish signal cable.
Dont know if HB will get into this  business but someone wanting to start or add to a business might have an opportunity here.

Imagenex uses a kevlar outer cable that is very strong.
I put my cable in a skie rope, that works also.

The only bad part about the kevlar cable is how expensive it is.  Last I looked (a couple years ago) it was $4+ per foot!

Would be nice though!

i use a dyneema cable 4 mm = 1250 kg resitant  1€/m
it's used by race boat trimarans or other, cheaper than kevlar and easier to work
