Title: SI Interference
Post by: muskieman8 on July 08, 2015, 05:11:13 PM
I am getting side imaging interference on my pontoon from the motor. Is it possible I can mount 1 XHS 9 HDSI transducer on the right toon and another on the left toon connecting them with the Y cable and only using the the right side imaging on the right toon and the left side imaging on the left toon at the same time?

Thank you

Absolutely ...

You will need this cable ...(and a second XHS 9 HDSI 180 T) ...

With this setup ...:

*Right SI, 2d, and temp will come from the starboard XHS 9 HDSI 180 T
*Left SI will come from the port XHS 9 HDSI 180 T ...

Thank you! It is my understanding on these models that they use the side imaging to form the down imaging. Would I be missing the area between the transducers then on my down imaging if I am using one for the right side imaging and another for the left?

You are correct that the HB core SI units use the data from the SI beams to computer generate the DI image ...

You will not have a "void" under the boat ...

The SI beams cover from the water's surface to way past vertical under the boat ...

I ordered the second transducer but the cable isn't long enough to get to the console from that side of the boat. I am only about 2 feet short. Is the EC-W10 the shortest cable that will work with that transducer to extend it? I read on Amazon that it doesn't work with side imaging transducers as well but wasn't sure if that was accurate. Could you tell me which is the shortest extension that will work with that transducer? Also since I already have installed a y cable am I setting myself up for decreased quality by adding another connection and extension as well? Is splicing and adding on  the cable myself an option? Thank you again

The xducer extension cables come in 2 lengths ...

EC10 (10ft)
EC30 (30ft)

The HB cables have provisions built into the connectors to help shield against RFI intrusion ...

Splicing is an option .. But a very tedious and not-so-simple task ...

I would suggest the factory extension cable EC10 or EC30 ...
