Hi pig sorry to hear you are having troubles with your new unit. Have you hooked your antenna up? Are you outside where the head can see the sky? The first initial time the unit takes a little
time to get a fix .Robert here on the Forum Owner and Gregg Walters HB Rep .Will probably
add something.    Gary

Make sue that your unit is outside so it can track the satellites.  If it is you may need to contact the Humminbird Customer Resource folks at 1-800-633-1468 to get another unit sent out to you.

Sorry Pig75, I did not look where you were located.  Who are you working through: BLA?
When you power the unit on does it say on the title screen that it is a “798c Si Combo” or “798ci Si Combo” (not additional “ i “ in model name.  Also, look at the serial number and see which model it says.

OK took the unit out and it was great  :) but no down image. It had firmware version 4.73 so dumb me did a update to 4.78 >:( now this unit is rebooting  >:( >:( Is anybody having trouble with the international 798ci ??
Also the 4.73 firmware is in the 798c section and not the 798ci section.
So what do i do now ?

How did you do the update?  SD card or pc connect cable?

Did you put the SD card in before or after you powered on the unit and did you restore the defaults?

Did the unit give you a green screen at the end saying the update was successful?

If you stick an SD card in the slow with an update on it will it recognise it?

Let me know and we will get you on track.

I did a reset to default then used a PC connect cable. The version of HumminbirdPC is 3.0.26

Since you have the PC connection cable I would try to either restore it in boostrap mode or stick the previous update on an SD card and see if it will start the update.  Backdate it to the previous then use the SD card to put the new update on there.  Power on the unit, restore defaults, then insert the sd card (do not power off!)  Let it do the update, then when it reboots, restore the defaukts again.

Good Luck,
