Topic: New 998c si and 6.49 compatability???

New guy here, but frequent TFF and BBC.

Can any 998c si use the 6.49 update? Mine I just installed and are brand new, haven't even had them on the water yet, and have versions 6.62 and 6.61 respectively. I only ask about the 6.49 because I have read that version has the best SI clarity.

I suppose what I really need to know is if the current software or the newest update of 6.68 would be best or would 6.49 be my best bet? I still need to ethernet link the two graphs and don't want any issues there either.

That's a tough question.    You definitely don't want the 6.61 or 2, but the general rule is to not go backwards from the release the units shipped with.

I would try to update to the latest release first and see how they perform.  Some people are getting good results with it.

I have also heard reports of people who have gone backwards with their units and not had a problem.....but I couldn't officially recommend that.

Maybe Greg will check in or call customer service and see if they can tell you if your units could use the 6.49

I guess I'll just download the latest and greatest software and go from there. I read a post on BBC that the AS GPS HS requires 6.600 software or higher.
