Title: Question on Helix 10 DI compatability with new Terrova
Post by: LocoD on November 06, 2016, 08:07:06 AM
I am about to upgrade to a new MK Terrova with US2 sonar. Minn Kota's compatibility chart is showing that all the Humminbird DI units(including the Helix) are not compatible with the new Terrova universal sonar. I don't understand, since the US2 uses only the 2D signal off the unit. Can anyone clarify this before I call Minn Kota tomorrow ? Thanks.

I don't know for sure what transducer selections are available in the Helix 10 DI menu, but there should be a dual beam 200/83 selection.

The problem is you will use your DI functionality.  The US 2 only has a 2D element.  It does not have a DI element.

According to the Minn Kota web site you cannot use the 2D sonar from a Helix DI unit with the US2 sonar on the Terrova. I realize the DI cannot be used. Don't understand why the 2D functionality from the DI unit won't work. It will from a SI unit. I guess I'll have to conventionally mount the DI transducer on the foot. I'll talk with MK tomorrow. Thx.

The default 2d frequency for the HB DI units is 200kHz/455kHz ...

The US2 in the Terrova is designed for 83kHz/200kHz ...
------

As Bob mentions, change the Connected Transducer selection under the Sonar tab to "HB+200/83" if your unit has this selection (not all DI models even have this possible selection) ..

And also as Bob mentions, you will lose DI function with the US2 because there is no DI piezo in the US2 xducer = The US2 is 2d (200kHz/83kHz) only ...
