16 ft Aluminum boat converted to a mini Bass Boat
« on: May 18, 2011, 02:40:05 PM »
Purchased the boat in July 2000, was a rental boat from some lake so it was well used.  The aluminum boat had 4 plywood seats with metal sides.  The wood seats were removed and the seat cavities were filled with foam for flotation before installing the decks.  Built a plywood console and installed the steering system.  The only items replaced since rebuilding the boat in 2000, is the trolling motor (Motorguide 54 lb thrust, and the the Outboard (Tohatsu 25 HP).  The older trolling motor failed and older 2 stroke engines were outlawed on the reservoir.  Attached is also a pdf with more pics.

Nice work George.
It looks like a plan thought out ahead.
Good safety plan on the foam.
Now go catch some fish.. :D

Nice work.  I like the extended rear deck and use of pin seat posts.

Does that mean the boat in your avatar has been sold? or is this just a back-up?  ;)

If it bends my rod, I'm a happy fisherman.

Johns

I am waiting to purchase a bass boat until I spend some time on the lake to determine what will fit me best, have been looking at Ranger, Skeeter and Triton boats.  I expect to wait until late this year or early next year.  I will keep my small boat, there are a lot places that only  a small boat  will work.
