898cx hd si combo software
« on: May 24, 2014, 09:55:25 PM »
hi all im new to this and upgraded my software  from the American site from the download area of my device after registering with this file, 898c_SI_v6_740_75b5613bf49742b68815b0e5cb418e73. The finder updated to 6.740.
I am in Australia and I then checked the Australian hummingbird site under legacy download and I found this file 898cXa_SI_v6_710. My finder/gps is a 898cx hd si combo. Am I using the correct software as in 6.740? How can I put the Australian version on please by the looks the Australian software is 6.710 or is it ok too leave it the way it is, I cant seem to install the 898cxa version it doesn't seem to pick it up on the sd card and I wondering am I missing something by not having my 0z version installed? how can I downgrade to the correct software? thx for your time cheers paul

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums Paul.

Your 898cX HD Si unit should not have been able to load a software update that was not meant for it.  I don’t keep up with the international versions of software of reach unit so I don’t know if the 6.740 version software was released for the “X” version units yet or not.  If your unit is running fine I suspect that it has or will be released soon.  If not, than you may have to send your unit to your local retailer to get the software corrected.

You can load older software versions by installing that version of software just like you would any other.  However, never install a software version older than what the unit was originally built with or the unit may be inoperable.
