Hello everyone, my first post is the reason for registering so lets go to the point.
I cannot update my Helix 5 chirp di gps g2 ! Current version is from the factory, 1540.
I am pretty sure that i did everything right(been trying for several days).
So, SD is FAT32, formatted,no errors with the most recent file from hum site in the root of SD (HELIX5CHIRP_DI_GPS_G2_v2_320.bin)
Restored defaults, inserted SD card, do you want to update>yes>cancel no.
Update starting, device just reboots with the same question. I even made a video, have a look: i=U3LYVLblxZuTR07v
Any cure for this or anyone can send me some previous version to try with that?

It’s possible the download from the HB website may have become corrupted during the download ...
Follow the same steps as before ...
(Try is Normal and in Simulator) ...
Maybe even try a different SD Card ...

I have made download several times,as well as copying and formatting SD card. Download size of the file was exactly the same every time. Tried in demo mode also,no luck. I would try new SD but did not have it, but i doubt this is the issue. I will buy new SD today and update you with the result. Thnx.

brand new SD...
There most be someone to have a previous version of software update on HDD...?

Many thanks for your upload. Unfortunately, same results. Unit starts updating for a few seconds, restarts without update and asks if i want to update...devils cycle. I guess something is wrong with this unit, although it works fine. ::)

Does the unit operate normally and just not update successfully ... ??

Yes Rickie! I have factory version of software(1540) and that is like 5 yrs old so i miss quite much...

Enter demo mode when you turn it on. Do a factory reset. Try updating again.

Hello anglers! Finally I got this issues explained by my local Humminbird dealer. (greetings to Mr. Silvio 8))
Some of this models (helix 5 di gps g2) have faulty memory chip!
This can be confirmed as device with faulty memory chip does not save newly created navigation points, besides that is unable to update software.
New memory chip cannot be bought separately, even if found, still EEPROM needs to be written and that can be done in the factory only.
Humminbird offers 20% discount if i want to buy a new device but i need to bring em this faulty device along with transducer. I believe i can sell this device more than that but anyways...
To summarize, nothing is solved and cannot be done in this case but i hope this story helps someone with the Helix 5 update problem.

Let's be consistent and not jump to conclusions after the dealer's words.
Navigation data in which mode is not saved? Demo or connected sensor mode?
The device is faulty, but this does not mean you have to pay the dealer for a new device and get a 20% discount.
You can contact the factory directly and get a good discount on repairs.
