Title: Issues with GPS
Post by: dingopups on June 08, 2014, 06:22:55 PM
I have just purchased and installed my 698ci HD SI.  During the first trip in the boat with combo, the GPS kept cutting out and not restarting. Then the GPS would not start at all.  I have reviewed the systems status and its says initially that the GPS is connected and then when we go to use the device the GPS stops.  Help.  Has anyone else experienced this issue and if yes, how did you resolve it?

Check all electrical connections first.  No loose or corroded contacts between the unit all the way back to the battery it is powered from.  Don’t forget to check the fuse, fuse holder and battery contacts too.

If possible, test it on someone else’s boat and their internal GPS Humminbird on your boat.  They do not have to be the same model just make sure that they are not one of the DI model units.
