XM Humminbird Weather Signal
« on: July 30, 2012, 08:23:15 PM »
Folks.....I know that Humminbird did away with their Weather Radar for Humminbird units but I still have mine and use everyday when out on the water.  I do not have a smartphone...yet so this really helps me.  One problem I do have and have had....was wondering if anyone out there does also.....I have to have my signal resent from time to time to my boat.  Already 3 times this year and twice in once month.  I'm usually on the water at least one time per week and if not pull my boat out of the garage to make sure my unit 's  GPS does work.  I have mine on the 1198 unit.  Just wondering.

What software version do you have on your unit?   Have you traveled a long distance (100+ miles) without the xm being turned on ?

calli1:
I have the same problem.
I have XM weather on my 1197c and periodically it stops working.
I have to get on the Sirius website and send a radio activation signal to my receiver to
get it working again.
I have no idea why this is.
Now, I just send the activation signal a couple times a week (especially the day before I go fishing).  It won't hurt anything it you did it a thousands times a day.

You may not have to take you boat out of the garage to get good GPS.
I get GPS and XM weather with my boat in a closed garage.

I hate to hear that Hummingbird did away with this feature; I was going to install this on my new units.

Like someone else said...if you have a smart phone ( which I do not ...one of the very few I guess ) you can use the phone and shouldn't need the XM Weather .

I think the XM weather will be a lot more detailed
than weather on a smart phone.
Plus, you've got a much bigger screen to look at.
